Goldess

Gold leaf, a symbol of social class in ancient China, contrasts with technology, the modern-day marker of hierarchy. Despite the veneer of equality in our times, class divisions and injustices persist beneath the surface. Much like an hourglass, which appears unchanged when flipped, social stratification remains concealed under the guise of fairness.

The purpose with this installation is to critique the inequality in today’s society. Over time, people have not fundamentally changed in this regard—they have merely learned to conceal it. This is a work of satire, aiming to highlight the persistence of privilege and exploitation. Through this piece, I hope to provoke deep reflection, drawing attention to the existence of social privilege and encouraging greater awareness of equality and human rights.
